How can you relax?
First of all, sufficient sleep, regular exercise, and a good diet are of course crucial for your body to relax. Relaxation is actually a personal thing. What's relaxing for one person can be draining for another. So, experiment to find out what relaxes you. Here are a few tips you can try:
- Take a walk in nature. Exercise is important for the body to relax. Stress can often build up in the body, and walking helps you "move it out." Nature has a positive effect on relaxation. Fresh air and greenery can help you unwind. Let go of the need to walk a certain distance and, if possible, don't bring your phone (or keep it in your pocket during the walk).
- Read a book . Reading is a calming activity and can help you relax. A book with a story works well for this, unlike many self-help books, which actually switch your brain on. Also, create a relaxing environment for reading, or read in nature!
- Do a mindfulness exercise. Mindfulness can help you calm your mind and relax your body. You can do this by shifting your focus, for example, to your breathing. There are many videos online that can guide you through this.
